Taiji & Qigong are gentle and effective methods of improving and maintaining health. Their benefits are developed through awareness of body alignments, low impact movement, and energy cultivation. They can help to relieve physical, emotional and mental tension and stress and pave the way to self-healing.

Qigong

Meridian Qigong

D&T Qigong is primarily used as a form of self-healing, or preventative exercise. It is an excellent method for increasing awareness of the 12 primary acupuncture meridian lines. It is a series of seven connected movements that strengthens the immune system, mitigates the effects of chronic illness and improves relaxation.

Water Element Qigong

Water Element Qigong focuses on cleansing, which highlights the downward flow of energy, primarily to clear blockages and initiate the root. It teaches the fundamentals of how to activate and harness Qi, your life-force energy, to improve health, reduce stress and generally upgrade your body and mind. Water Element Qigong consists of six progressive exercises:

  • Standing & Outer Dissolving

  • Cloud Hands

  • Three Swings

  • and a Spine Stretch

Wood Element Qigong

Wood Element Qigong is a two movement set that introduces the internal work of opening and closing the joints and body cavities, more complex breathing techniques, and the energetic flows of the Micro and Macro Cosmic Orbits.

Earth Element Qigong

Earth Element Qigong works with the energy of the spleen and the earth element. The initial goal is to integrate and balance the mind, body and breath. Practicing the movements from Earth Element Qigong can make your bones stronger, cleanse your emotional body of negative energy, open and stabilize your heart center and energize the brain.

Circling Hands Qigong

The three basic circles, waist turnings and weight shifts included in this exercise create a solid physical foundation for the basics of tai chi. Yet the physical movements of Circling Hands go far beyond regular exercises. They are designed to powerfully move fluids and qi in the body. Experienced practitioners will benefit from this workout as a vehicle for practicing the primary opening and closing techniques found in the Taoist 16-part neigong.

Wu Style Taiji

Wu Style 16 Postures Taiji Short Form

The Wu Style Taiji Short Form consists of 16 posture and is an excellent place to start learning Taiji. The short form was developed by BK Frantzis and can be performed in less than 5 min and requires only a small amount of space. It is ideal as an introduction to Taiji or as an adjunct to other movement arts, such as dancing, running, and yoga. It contains the majority of Taiji’s health benefits and contains the basic concepts of Taiji as a martial art.

Taiji can take time to learn and to embody. I teach the short form in a series of levels each taking about 6-9 months. Taiji is a practice passed on circles, spirals and the cycles of nature, and so is taught through an iterative learning process.

Level 1 – physical movements
Level 2 – bend and stretch
Level 3 – left hand form and refinements

Wu Style 37 Postures Taiji Medium Form

The 37 postures of the Wu Style Taiji medium form is a superb blending of the short and long forms. It contains all of the postures of the long form and can be performed in nearly the same length of time it takes to complete the short form.

Wu Style 108 Postures Taiji Long Form

The 108 posters of the traditional Wu Long Form expands on the material in the short form and includes the full range of martial and healing applications. The long form is ideal for people who have already learned the short form or another style of Taiji.
